Tajmahal - Flavour of India revient à ses heures habituelles
Le restaurant, spécialisé en fine cuisine authentique Indienne, Mughlai et Tandoori, est de retour à ses heures d’ouverture habituelles après avoir été fermé les lundis et les mardis à l’heure du lunch. “Nous remercions nos loyaux clients pour leur patience et leur ompréhension”, affirme le propriétaire, Mohinder Jit Singh. Tajmahal - Flavour of India returns to regular hours
The restaurant, specialized in fine authentic Indian, Mughlai and Tandoori cuisine, is back to it’s regular business hours after being closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during lunch hour. “We thank our loyal customers for their patience and understanding”, says owner Mohinder Jit Singh. The restaurant’s current hours are from Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m.

Summer Drama Camps at the Capitol!

The Capitol School of Performing Arts is now accepting applications for its 2007 summer drama camps. A total of six classes, running from August 7 to 17, will be offered in English and in French for ages 5 to 17.

The school is coordinated by Marshall Button, Artist-in-Residence, and supported by the competent staff of the Capitol Theatre. Places are limited and will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants to the Camps 5 and 6 (ages of 13 and up) must audition for a place. Auditions will take place at the Capitol Theatre on June 27 and 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. The school’s goal is to provide high-quality instruction by teaching the principles of drama, performance and production. Une étudiante du Collège Medes remporte l’or !
Chantale Poirier, une étudiante au Collège Medes de Moncton, a remporté la médaille d’or dans la catégorie esthétique à la compétition Skills Canada NB tenue récemment à Moncton. Elle représentera le NB à 13e Compétition Canadian Skills à Saskatoon en Saskatchewan du 6
au 9 juin, 2007. “Ce que Chantale a accompli est directement lié à la mission du Collège, en fournissant une éducation de premier plan et le développement d’habiletés dans la pratique d’esthétique. Nous sommes très fiers de la belle performance de Chantale et ce sera une expérience exceptionnelle pour elle de compétitionner à l’échelle nationale”, explique France

MEDES COLLEGE STUDENT WINS GOLD METAL
Chantale Poirier, a student at the Medes College in Moncton, was awarded the gold medal in the esthetics category at the Skills Canada NB competitions recently held in Moncton. She will now represent NB at the 13th Canadian Skills Competition in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from June 6 to 9, 2007. “What Chantale has accomplished is directly linked to the College’s mission, in providing first-rate career education and skills development in the practice of esthetics. We are very proud of Chantale’s outstanding performance and it will be an exceptional experience for her to be able to compete at a national level.”, explains Medes College President, France Bouchard-Michaud. Les Pirates envahissent la ville!

La Carl Rosa Company présente sa production de la comédie musicale The Pirates of Penzance de Gilbert & Sullivan, au Théâtre Capitol, le dimanche 11 mars à 20 h. Il s’agit d’un de deux seuls arrêts au N.-B. pour la tournée canadienne et américaine de la compagnie, avec une distribution et un orchestre de plus de 45 artistes.

Écrit en 1879, The Pirates of Penzance est comédie farfelue qui comprend une bande de pirates orphelins (qui se distinguent par leur déficience en cruauté), un général-major qui ne reconnaît pas ses fusils de ses javelots, un constable celtique aux pieds plats, une bande de jolies demoiselles aux joues rougissantes et le beau jeune homme Fréderic.

Les Islanders de New York tiendront leur camp d’entraînement à Moncton!

La Ville de Moncton a annoncé cette semaine que les Islanders de New York de la LNH tiendront un camp d’entraînement de 9 jours au Centre 4 Glaces Tim Horton du 14 au 23 septembre prochain. L’équipe de Ted Nolan doit disputer une partie d’avant-saison de la LNH face aux Canadiens de Montréal, le 19 septembre au Colisée. Le camp inclura des séances d’entraînement quotidiennes, des parties entre les recrues, un dîner communautaire et d’autres activités. Ci-haut, Le Maire Mitton reçoit le chandail de Ryan Smyth des mains du DG des Islanders, Garth Snow.

The 1st Annual Atlanticade Motorcycle Festival will take place in Moncton from June 20th to the 24th and will raise funds for the Children’s Wish Foundation. Pirates arrrrgh coming to town!

The Carl Rosa Company presents their musical production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance at the Capitol Theatre on Sunday, March 11th at 8 p.m.

This is one of two New Brunswick stops in the company’s major tour of the US and Canada, with a combined cast and live orchestra of over 45 performers. Written in 1879, The Pirates of Penzance presents a topsy-turvy plot involving a band of orphaned pirates (distinctly deficient in cut-throatedness); a Major General who doesn’t know his rifles from his javelins; the flat-footed Cornish Constabulary; a bevy of blushing maidens; and the dashing Frederic.

The City of Moncton announced earlier this week that the NHL’s New York Islanders will hold a 9- day training camp at the Tim Horton’s 4-Ice Centre from September 14th to the 23rd. Ted Nolan’s team was already scheduled to play a pre-season game against the Montreal Canadiens on September 19th at the Coliseum. The camp will include daily practice sessions, inter squad/rookie games, a community luncheon and other player activities.

Un restaurant thaïlandais du centre-ville change de nom
Le restaurant Vina Thaï, situé au 7, ruelle Orange, a changé son nom. Il est maintenant nommé Saigon Thaï. Le restaurant, spécialisé en cuisine thaïlandaise, est ouvert depuis un peu plus de deux ans et a récemment changé de mains. “J’aimais le nom Saigon Thaï et je pensais simplement que c’était mieux pour le restaurant”, avoue la nouvelle propriétaire, Mikyung Choi.

Saveurs de Moncton - Une Aventure Culinaire
Cette année, Saveurs de Moncton aura lieu à l’Hôtel Delta Beauséjour, le vendredi, 9 mars de 17h à 21h, le samedi, 10 mars de 11 h à 15 h et de 17 h à 21h. Le coût des billets est de 12 $ par personne (15 $ à la porte) et incluent deux coupons de dégustation gratuits. Ils sont disponibles aux restaurants participants. Vous aurez le plaisir de voir des démonstrations culinaires du chef Arne Fulton et des chefs locaux ainsi que des démonstrations de danse Salsa. Les Païens en spectacle au Théâtre Capitol
Le groupe musical de Moncton Les Païens sera en spectacle au Théâtre Capitol ce samedi, 3 mars à 20 h. Le quatuor instrumental propose une musique jazz-rock alternative. En plus d’offrir leurs plus récentes compositions, le groupe a choisi d’intégrer au spectacle leurs plus grands succès du passé, remontant jusqu’en 1995. Les participants doivent avoir au moins onze ans. Les frais du cours sont de 25$, ce qui comprend tout le matériel nécessaire. On suggère aux participants d’apporter leur dîner. Il faut aussi noter que le cours est donné uniquement en anglais.

Downtown Thai restaurant changes its name
The Vina Thai Restaurant, located at 7 Orange Lane, has changed its name to the Saigon Thai Restaurant. The restaurant, which specializes in Thai cuisine and has been in operation for over two years had recently changed hands. “I just liked the name Saigon Thai and I thought it was better for the restaurant” explains new owner Mikyung Choi.

Taste of Moncton - A Culinary Adventure
This year, Taste of Moncton will take place at the Delta Beauséjour on Friday, March 9th from 5 to 9 p.m., on March 10th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $12 dollars per person ($15 at the door) and include 2 free tasting coupons and are available at participating restaurants. You will be also be entertained by various free cooking demonstrations presented by Chef Arne Fulton and local chefs and you will also see Salsa dancing demonstrations. A silent auction will also take place from March 9th to 11th and winning bidders will be advised on March 12th. The 2007 Home Gourmet Contest will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 12th. This year, Taste of Moncton will once again support Mobile One.

Moncton group Les Païens will be performing on stage at the Capitol Theatre this Saturday, March 3 at 8 p.m. The instrumental quartet presents an alternative jazz-rock sound. In addition to playing some of their most recent material, the group has chosen to include some of their greatest hits, dating back to 1995. Creators of sound, Les Païens bring out the magic and the sweetness of jazz and combine it with the momentum and force of rock.

The Red Cross Babysitting Course for youth will be offered during the March Break at the
Moncton Public Library on Wednesday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Participants must be at least eleven years old. The cost for the course is $25 and includes
all materials necessary for the program. Participants should bring their own lunch.
