Global Climate Campaign: Greater Moncton to participate

December 6, 2008 at 1:00 p.m.
Be ready at the Moncton City Hall by 1:00 p.m.

In early December, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will be gathering in Poznañ, Poland to talk about climate change, as they did last year in Bali. During that event, cities, towns and villages around the world held rallies to ask for more action to combat the effects of climate change. Greater Moncton was one of those areas – over 150 people participated!

Let’s once again join cities, towns and villages across Canada and 93 other countries in a Global Campaign calling on World leaders to advance international cooperation on climate change initiatives and show some real progress on key issues.

For the Dieppe, Moncton and Riverview area, the event will consist of a Peaceful Public March that will leave Moncton City Hall on 1:00 p.m.

The march will make its way around the downtown core and finish at City Hall with refreshments and a presentation on Climate Change and Clean Energy by Professor Yves Gagnon, Director of the UdeM environmental studies program and the K.C. Irving chair in sustainable development.
The event is being organized by the southeast chapter of the Conservation Council of NB, the Council of Canadians – Moncton Chapter and the Greater Moncton Earth Day Committee.

Signs will be available at the march, and organizers wish to encourage everyone who wonders what they can do about Climate Change to grab their friends and family and come down to Moncton City Hall for 1pm on Dec.6th.

Let’s make it 200 or more this year and show the world that Greater Moncton wants action!
